C PRINT + DIASEC | 20 X 87 INCHES
This work is constructed through the manipulation of a simple image, by inserting several figures and tiny scenes in this otherwise ‘peaceful’ scenery. Small clips from the TV and media are placed within the large picture. These show army, military planes, injured people, dead bodies in addition to the signboard of a multinational organization, Shell. Although the two halves of the work reproduce/reflect each other the figures of the soldier do not follow this order. These move from left to right, a direction that indicates the way the present political scenario is built – as the forces from the West (left) advance to the East (right). The connection of the West to left and East with the right is linked to the geographical positions as well as to the languages used in the two hemispheres.
