LANGUAGE 7 2011-12

C PRINT + DIASEC | 74 x 81 INCHES

The language that constructs and conveys the currents of a culture is the subject of portraying the reality of a post-colonial society. Constructed with the signboards of shops in Lahore, this work turns into two screens, which cover a recognizable canvas by an English landscape painter, John Constable. This juxtaposition brings together various notions, narrations and definitions of art and language, and creates a connection between the two aspects of a cultural and creative expression.
