OIL, ACRYLIC, PRINTED FABRIC AND FRAMED PHOTOGRAPH ON CANVAS | 72 X 75 INCHES

Incorporating a popular hero from Punjabi movies as the main image, the ideas of violence, popularity, image and reality are explored. The figure of Sultan Rahi,  a character who played numerous roles of both hero and villain, is juxtaposed with the artist’s photograph from his childhood, posing as a soldier. Through these images, fascination with violence in a society is evident, in life and its replica the art, or in its substitute the fantasy.
