Although the painting or a photograph is a static and flat surface, but its essence and character is not different from the TV screen which has the power to alter our ideas and identities. Constructed with the illusion of a three dimensional object, in the work images of several birds flying across or against the skyscraper, is a natural sight, but if seen in another way, these can become a symbolic representation of self annihilation. Hence the title ‘Dead Bird Flying’ a contradiction in its essence, but echoes the incident when two aero planes collided into the Twin Towers, and changed the course of history, as well as the political cartography of the globe. Using a simple and ordinary visual, the work deals with deeper issues, yet keeps a pictorial and poetic language to denote the content.
